This study aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary peanut oil and palm oil on body mass index and adiponectin levels in rats, as well as the potential modulatory role of Nigerian propolis supplementation. Twenty-five Wistar rats were divided into five groups: control, peanut oil, palm oil, peanut oil + propolis, and palm oil + propolis. After four weeks of dietary intervention, BMI and serum adiponectin levels were measured. The peanut oil group showed a significantly lower BMI and higher adiponectin levels compared to the palm oil group. Supplementation with Nigerian propolis resulted in a further significant reduction in BMI and increase in adiponectin levels in the peanut oil group. However, propolis supplementation in the palm oil group did not significantly alter BMI or adiponectin levels. These findings suggest that peanut oil has beneficial effects on BMI and adiponectin levels, and that Nigerian propolis may enhance these effects when combined with peanut oil
